SEO

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is manipulating content so that it ranks higher in search results. This includes using optimal keywords, improving page load times, link building and lots more nerdy stuff.

What is SEM?

SEM is Search Engine Marketing and applies to marketing in a way that customers will find you in a search engine like Google. It includes SEO and Pay Per Click Advertising like Google AdWords. Wouldn’t it be nice to be on page one when someone is ready to buy?

Does blogging help my SEO?

Blogging definitely helps your SEO. Every time you create a new piece of content it is another opportunity to rank in Google.

What is domain authority?

Domain authority is a website’s ability to rank in a search engine. A page that has been around longer and has more high quality links has a higher domain authority. So USAToday.com is going to have a higher domain authority than that blog about kitty-shaped waffles.

What are Business Citations?

A business citation (or local citation) is any online mention of the name, address, and phone number for a local business. Having them in sync impacts local search engine rankings.

Social Media

Can social media marketing really help my business?

Heck yeah! There is no more cost effective way to be top of mind than social media. Plus not using it can actually harm your business. People are far more likely to spend money with you if you have an active presence, an engaged audience and a volume of reviews. Nobody wants to buy from Three Review Sue, even if her average is 5-stars.

Isn’t social media a free way to market?

Social media definitely isn’t free. Either you are spending your valuable time on it, paying an employee to do it, or outsourcing it to someone like us. Beyond that, spending money on social media ads that help you reach your goals is often well worth it. Spending money blindly is obviously not!

What are the best social networks for businesses?

There is definitely no one-size-fits-all or even a one-size-fits-most answer for this. We can help you decide though. Reach out to us here. But you have our full blessing to stop posting on MySpace.

What type of social media content is best?

Answering this question is usually a longer conversation that starts with “it depends,” but in general you should create content that appears to have more in it for your audience than for you. You want content that gets your audience to feel an emotion so they will engage, share and have a relationship with your brand.

Is YouTube important for my business?

We like to think of YouTube in two ways. First is as a video channel. It takes lots of work but makes sense for some brands. But YouTube is also the world’s #2 search engine. Are their questions your potential customers need answers to? Answer them on YouTube as a way to help them find your business.

What is the difference between "Reach" and "Impressions?"

Impressions are the number of time your ad or post was seen, while reach refers to the number of unique people who saw it. So if Katrina in Bellevue sees a piece of content three times, it adds three impressions but only one to your reach.

Content Marketing

What is content marketing?

Content Marketing is the phrase for focusing on consumer needs first. Back in the day, Friendly Faucets Inc. would run ads saying that they make the best faucets. Now that same company would create blogs and videos helping people fix broken faucets. Then when someone realizes they can’t fix their faucet, hopefully they buy a new one from Friendly Faucets. <— I want that to be a real company.

Do I really need a blog?

Yes! A blog increases your credibility as an industry leader. Having fresh, keyword-rich content regularly pleases Google. Blog content also gives you original content to share on social media and drives traffic to your website. Aren’t those things all awesome?

Is email marketing still effective?

Email marketing is still very effective! First, email is a way to reach customers that won’t be taken away from you. Your Facebook page or YouTube channel could be shut down – you don’t own it. Second, even if you don’t email your customers, you can use their email addresses to target them through social media and on other websites. Plus if you work with marketing ninjas like us, we can help you use your current email list to find new customers.

How can I get customers to open my emails?

The best way is to make sure that every email you send is so good they don’t want to miss it. The second way is to write incredible subject lines. We often spend as much time crafting the perfect subject line as we do writing the rest of the email. See it in action by joining our email list
